GeoDirectory Needs & Existing Problems
United Way of Westchester and Putnam is in need of a complete revamp of their 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org (to be a fresh WordPress Website) services directory:
- Presently the directory is hosted by a 3rd party and this causes an issue in that the 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org websites don’t get any search rankings for any of the services listings.
- Because the services can’t be found in search results, it’s hard for the people who need the services the most to find the help they are looking for.
- In their present forms, the directories lack an intuitive user interface, so when someone in need is guided to use the directories, it’s still hard for them to quickly find the help they are looking for.
Solutions
In order to address the needs and problems listed above for United Way of Westchester and Putnam, the solutions below should be implemented.
- License for use the WordPress GeoDirectory Plugin. ($199/annually/website or $995 for a lifetime license for up to 100 websites) – You can check out the plugin at this link: wpgeodirectory.com
- Engage with The Web Dude to configure, set up and optimize for search the existing services directory for 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org into the WordPress GeoDirectory Plugin.
Deliverables
As part of the overall solution, The Web Dude will deliver everything necessary to make the solutions section complete.
- The Web Dude will install the GeoDirectoryg Plugin on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org.
- The Web Dude will configure the GeoDirectoryg Plugin on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org.
- The Web Dude will ensure that all existing services and providers listed in the current directory are migrated / imported into the GeoDirectory Plugin on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org respectively.
- The Web Dude will ensure that all existing services and providers are Search Engine Optimized so that residents in Westchester and Putnam counties are more likely to find the services they need directly on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- The Web Dude will ensure that the GeoDirectory Plugin and all services and providers listed are easy to find on a map.
- The Web Dude will ensure that the GeoDirectory Plugin and all services and providers listed are easy and simple to search for.
Things or services not included in this scope of work:
- GeoDirectory Plugin license(s).
- Acquisition of Google Maps API Key – this will be required to be able to integrate the map functionality into the GeoDirectory Plugin. This requires a Google Maps Developer account with a payment form attached. The payment is only charged if the maximum number of FREE API calls is exceeded within a given billing period.

The GeoDirectory Implementation will follow the steps outlined below:
- Full Backup of 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- Installation of GeoDirectory on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- Configuration of GeoDirectory on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- Testing of Import to GeoDirectory on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- Full Import to GeoDirectory on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- GeoDirectory Design on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- GeoDirectory Optimization for Search on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- GeoDirectory Testing on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
- GeoDirectory Launch on 211hudsonvalley.org, 211li.org and future 211adirondack.org
Cautions
The primary caution and/or concern that I have is with the present website hosts, GoDaddy for 211hudsonvalley.org and BlueHost for 211li.org. As a whole, both GoDaddy and BlueHost website hosting packages are largely underpowered and as WordPress databases grow, their hosting packages tend to run out of resources fast. Should this occur during the process of this implementation or thereafter, it would be beneficial to consider discussing other hosting options with The Web Dude.
Investment
Website Funnel & Updates Fee
One-time project fee- This is based on the scope of work outlined in the sections above. This is a one-time fee.
- Premium plugins can be purchased on behalf of United Way of Westchester and Putname and billed back in addition to website project fee if so elected but this is not required.
- Payment terms for the project fee are 50% payment in advance and the remaining 50% payment upon completion.
- Payment may be made by Credit Card or Company Check. Credit Card payments are subject to a convenience fee.
